A Little Snow Won't Stop MePost Workout!  Although the arctic tundra is outside right now, I still made an effort to get to the gym and kick ass while I was there!  It was totally worth it because it was pretty much empty because of the snow.  I had a nice, long workout session and I felt great!  I was proud of myself for taking on the storm to get to the gym.  No excuses here!

I even hopped in the sauna after to sweat out some extra toxins!  It was so relaxing and it prepared me for the cold!

Apple Cider Vinegar Shots. Yum!

For the past two days I have been taking shots of apple cider vinegar.  I have used apple cider vinegar as a facial toner for a couple of months now and I’ve noticed nothing but improvement.  My acne scars and discoloration have been lessening and it makes my face super smooth.  I also love using it because I know how beneficial it is.  I can almost feel it working instantly!

Why did I start taking shots of it?  It is so healthy for you!  I have read so many amazing reasons to start ingesting it.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty strong and will take some getting used to.  But, it is so worth it!  ACV works as a liver detox and promotes circulation.  The high acidity of ACV binds to toxins in your body, which can assist in removing them.  The potassium also breaks up the mucus in your body, which clears the lymph nodes, aiding in more removal of toxins.

Apple cider vinegar can also help with a sore throat!  If you feel one coming on, simply gargle equal parts water and ACV.  It also works as a digestive aid and an energy booster.

Focus on Your Food

In our society, we constantly seem to be running out of time. We all catch ourselves wishing for more hours in the day to do the things we actually WANT to do. That being said, we tend to miss out on key aspects of life. These may be relationships, leisure time, and… spending quality time with our food!

For some cultures, eating meals is the most important and spiritual time of the day. Truth be told, food allows us to live our incredible lives. It can give us wonderful nutrients, vitamins, flavor and health (if we’re eating it the right way). Our culture takes the food we put on our plate for granted. Next time you’re eating a meal, try and visualize where your food came from.. Maybe it’s from a farmer who works all day long to supply food for thousands of people and doesn’t get to spend much time with his own family. Maybe your chicken had a wonderful life running around on the free range. It’s a deep thought that may have never crossed your mind before. Then take time to ease your thoughts and just breathe!  Not many times in the day where we get to enjoy little moments like these ones, so why not take advantage of them?!   Try and solely focus on your food. I bet you’ll appreciate eating more than ever before!  I know this may sound crazy to some, but I have done it before and it’s definitely worth the experience.

Why I Begin Every Day With Warm Lemon Water

First of all it tastes great! Isn’t that reason enough? No!

Organic, Natural, DIY Facial Regimens!

I love ALL things natural and organic. I especially love it when it comes to facial care. There is no need for parabens, harsh chemicals, toxins, or whatever else is put into our products that no one even knows how to pronounce. Organic, natural and DIY all the way!

I just thought I’d share with you the facial care regimen I treated myself to tonight.  I first used my cleansing facial wipes made by Simple.  I use the sensitive skin kind since I have…drumroll… sensitive skin.  I use this to get the top layer of my makeup off of my face.

Then, I move on to my favorite(well, one of them) cleansing gels.  It’s called Vitamin C Renewal Refreshing Cleansing Gel.  Its packed with antioxidants and provides photo-aging defense.  Vitamin C is great for your skin because it promotes the growth of new cells, which keeps your skin in better condition overall.  It also lightens the skin, is sun protectant, and has anti-aging properties!  Here is the link this product on the Avalon Organic site.  http://www.avalonorganics.com/vitaminc-renewal

Next, I gave myself a facial steam.  Tonight was the first time I ever tried this, but I got a facial last week and she told me that steaming would be extremely beneficial for my skin.  So I tried it out tonight and loved it!  It helps reduce acne (or just overall skin health) by opening up the pores and flushing out any impurities within the skin.  After I boiled the water, I poured it into a ceramic bowl and put my face directly over it.  I also added a towel over my head to keep the steam contained.  I sat there for about 10 minutes.  After the steam removed any toxins left within my skin…

I followed it with a strawberry, honey, and cinnamon mixture on my face.  I mashed up 3 strawberries, added 2 tablespoons of honey and a dash or two of cinnamon.  Strawberries contain a high amount of salicylic acid.  Sound familiar?  That’s because salicylic acid is used in many commercial skin care products.  When applied to the face, it encourages the epidermis to shed its cells more easily, while opening clogged pores, and neutralizing bacteria.  Honey is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.  It is also very moisturizing and soothing.  Cinnamon is also antibacterial and is beneficial to the skin because it brings blood and nutrients to the skin surface while also helping with dryness.

Let me tell you, I looked SCARY.  I left this mask on for about 25- 30 minutes.  When it was time to remove the mask, I used warm water to soften it up on my face, and then I rubbed it all over my face.  It acted as a gentle exfoliation and wash.  It felt great!  Then I washed it off and patted my face dry with a towel.

MY SKIN WAS AND STILL IS SO SOFT!  Can’t wait to do this again tomorrow! Hope you guys try this one out, I’m very happy with it.

I genuinely look forward to drinking my Yogi Tea to read the beautiful words of wisdom that they have on each tag bag. They are simple, yet so powerful and somehow always apply to my life at that very moment.
The beauty of life truly is to experience yourself and sometimes I think we all forget that. Life is such an amazing thing. Yes, a lot of things that happen in the world are out of our control, but the one thing we have control over is our bodies and souls and what we choose to do with them. Life is way too short to ever do things that you don’t want to do or miss out on opportunities you know you need to take. Lately, I’ve been noticing that more than ever.
Uplift everybody and uplift yourself. When is the last time you’ve done something kind for another person and not felt positivity reflect back upon yourself? When you brighten up someone else’s day, your day will seem to be much brighter too! I truly believe in the amazing things positive energy can accomplish.

Medicine or Menace?

In my previous post, I mentioned that I have tried everything in the book to cure my acne.  From birth control pills, other prescription pills, topical creams, to more extreme measures like chemical peels and (painful) laser treatments.  Visiting the health food store and conversing with a man who worked there made me realize I was missing the big picture.  I was temporarily and unsuccessfully treating the symptoms of my acne.  What I needed to do was begin curing my skin.  He made me realize that the reason I was breaking out was because my body was reacting to something more complex.  It was toxic and I needed to do something about it.  The first step I decided to take was to call my dermatologist and cancel my upcoming appointment.  I reached a point of illumination in my life.  I discovered that the medications I was taking were being prescribed to EVERYONE that had acne.  However, I was not the same as everybody!  Everyone is different.  I want to stress that fact right now.  What I post on my blog are things that have worked for ME.  In no way am I going to tell everyone that is reading this that what I am posting will also work for them, because it may not.  What is so frustrating to me is the fact that every doctor prescribes the same medications to every single person with the same problem.  However, each person’s issues may be more or less extreme than the rest.  The root of the problem may be different too.  What people need to realize is that their issues may run deeper than they think and need to be treated as such.  Furthermore, how well can your prescription be “treating” your problem when it gives you numerous amounts of side effects?  This then leads to getting yet another medication prescribed by your doctor to relieve those symptoms.  It seems like a never ending cycle.  Why not completely CURE your body without any side effects?!  If you truly want to reach your greatest potential, you need to figure out what works for you and not fully rely on what doctors prescribe you or what advertisements tell you you need.  Does anyone have any input on this?  I really want to hear what you think!
